Standing magnificently at about 700 meters above sea level, this destination is one of the many ones you must visit while in Cape Town. Lion’s Head Hiking Trail A hike up the mountain will take you roughly 2 to 3 hours depending on how fit you are. The only challenging part would be the climbing chains that you have to take on while ascending the rock. The series of ladders and chains to help you maneuver the rocky fades which are quite steep are not so safe for the elderly and kids. Fret not, there is a friendlier route around the chains that happens to be a bit safer. Full Moon Hikes Lion’s Head happens to be one of those hiking destinations for full-moon hikes. It makes the cut and goes beyond to impress even further, offering nice panoramic views at dusk. This is an experience like none other, with the moon rising above the mountains while the sun sets over the sea’s horizon. Temperatures may drop after sunset, as such, be advised to carry some warm clothes. For the full moon hike, you will need to pack up a torch or headlamp in addition to nice hiking shoes and food. A camera goes without saying. Photos along the trail, among the rocks, and atop the summit are a must-have. These will most definitely be souvenirs to remind you of the wonderful experience that was.
