There's a time I was hiking in the mountain and got passed by a runner who was much older and fitter. It motivated me enormously so as to get myself involved in trail running. The second thing that came in my mind was a bowl of ramen I tasted in London. I was traveling and famished, when I saw the ramen place, it felt like home. Basically, that's probably because I didn't enjoy the food in London in general. It happened again in New York. I guess I'm a ramen person. The third thing that I like is running into random people when travelling. Years ago, when I was strolling in Paris, trying to find the Arc of Triumph. I bumped into a young lady who came from Mexico City. It was a long walk, and long conversations. Nothing beats learning what people's lives are like from exotic places.Recommended places:
For Auckland, there are plenty to choose from whether it’s nature or cityscape that appeals.
The main photogenic areas for cityscape are viaduct by the sea, fish market, winter garden with Auckland Museum nearby, marina under the bridge.
For nature: Muriwai beach, Piha (where the movie Piano was filmed), Mission bay with Rangitoto (an island with the mountain shaped like a volcano), Cornwall park.
